What I love about this solid oak desk is that it is not very deep, which means it is so easy to place in almost any room, hall, entrance... Always looks wonderful, and so handy. Made by L. & J. G. STICKLEY in 1917 during those months when they were winding down their Arts & Crafts line (their older brother, Gustav, was working with them). This Mission desk is identical in dimension to #613, and only shows subtle differences like the arch under the drawer. (Such minor c hanges on basic designs were comon from year to year). They called themselves "United Crafts" for those few months of joint production; hence, the conjoined label showing both the joiners compass which Gustav used and the handscrew which L. & J. G. Stickley used. This slant-top desk is one of the last pieces from that era. Desk has never been refinished (quartered oak); and, although desk shows wear (few stains, edge wear, a drawer knob chipped), the patina is lovely. Overall condition is GOOD VINTAGE. Drop Front desk measures 39-1/2" tall; 32" wide; 14-1/2" depth (at widest part); 23-1/2" interior with drop front down; 10-1/2" drop front (3/4" thick). All drawers are dovetailed; bottom shelf is attached by going all the way through the sides. Well-made metal hinges. Desk has slightly arched top, and similar (larger arch) beneath the big drawer; sides of desk are wider on the bottom (nice shape). Stickley Brothers logo is inside bottom drawer. Shipping (or local pick-up) can be arranged, and will only be for ACTUAL COST with NO HANDLING FEE. Desk is very solid, but I can lift it, which means shipping will not be very high.
