Vintage New Old Stock Car/Motor Cycle Instrument This "NEW OLD STOCK" Charge - Discharge (Car or Motor Cycle) meter is in perfect unused condition. The maker is CAV. The dial is 1 and ¾ inches in diameter. The front chrome bezel is 2 ¼ inches in diameter, the entire length of the meter is 2 ¾ inches. Buyer to pay for postage please which will be £3 within the UK. I will ship world wide. C.A.V. was a formed by Charles Anthony Vandervell (1870–1955), making accumulators, electric carriage lamps, and switchboards in Willesden London. In 1904 the firm, moved to Warple Way, Acton. CAV pioneered the dynamo-charged battery principle and in 1911 produced the world's first lighting system used on a double-decker bus. By the end of WWI in 1918, 1,000 employees were making vehicle electrics and aircraft magnetos for the military. In 1923 CAV started to make Wireless components. In 1926 CAV was bought by Lucas, and in 1931, CAV in partnership with Robert Bosch Ltd., became CAV-Bosch Ltd and began making fuel injection pumps for the diesel industry and later fuel systems for aircraft. Lucas bought Bosch's interest out in 1937 and CAV became CAV Ltd in 1939.
