This is one vintage straight razor "WISS "made by J.Wiss & Sons Co .Jacob Wiss founded the company in 1848 .Production of razors have ended in the middle 1920s. It is in excellent condition with just under 6/8 " square point hollow ground blade, it is clean; free of any pitting, cracks, nicks, chips or sharpening damage. The cutting edge is well honed and smooth. Front shank reads WISS reverse shank reads ; J. WISS & SONS CO NEWARK N.J. U.S.A. front end of the monkey tail is stamped 466 .It has very nice black Bakelite handles in excellent condition with almost no visible wear and scratches, free of chips, cracks or other damage with two pins that appear original. It opens and closes nicely well centered between the handles. There is no box with this razor. The razor measures 6 3/8 "long when is closed. All measurements are approximate. This is very nice example of “Wiss” J. Wiss & Sons Co straight razor; it would be great addition to any collection or simply to use.
