Unique Vintage Stratton Cufflinks with Original Box Depicting "The Laughing Cavalier" by Frans Hals An incredible set of vintage Stratton England cufflinks picturing Frans Hals' "The Laughing Cavalier". From what I could find out about this little item is that they are hand-finished in oil. As I am sure you can tell from the photos, these are in great condition for an item that comes from the 1950-70 period. T hey measure c. 3/4"inch (2.1cm) set into an unmarked white metal - a nice collectable pair that I hope a collector will appreciate. These could also be bought as a gift to an art lover and worn. They come with the original Stratton box that is also in very good condition. A little bit of history about "The Laughing Cavalier" and Frans Hals: The Laughing Cavalier (1624) is a portrait by the Dutch Golden Age painter Frans Hals in the Wallace Collection in London, which has been described as "one of the most brilliant of all Baroque portraits". The title is an invention of the Victorian public and press, dating from its exhibition in the opening display at the Bethnal Green Museum in 1872–75, just after its arrival in England, where it soon began to be regularly reproduced as prints, and was among of the best known old master paintings in Britain.
