Offered for auction with no reserve is this vintage toy tin windup Interstate Bus #98. The toy is in used/ played with condition. It has light surface corrosion, scratches, wear to the paint, missing part and needs restoring, see the pictures. The back attached steps which would have led to the upper deck is missing. We don't know if it ever had a radiator cap or not but there is a hole on top of the radiator where a cap might have at one time been. The rear wheels spin on their axel and they should be in a "fixed" position and turn with the axel which is powered by the windup spring. The key winds the spring, which is not broken, but the cog-gearing catches on itself in the enclosed housing and locks up so it will need adjusting to make it run properly. One front wheel on the left side of the bus has broken tabs on the wheel's hubcap which allows the wheel to flop crooked on the axel, see the pictures. The driver of the bus is present. The bus, as it is, measures about 9 1/2" long X about 4 1/2"-5" wide X about 6" tall. The manufacturer mark is on the back and reads "The Ferdinand Strauss Corp. New York U.S.A.". We did not apply any wax or clear coat to the piece. This toy would make a good restoration project or parts vehicle. We are offering this Interstate Bus with a low starting bid and no reserve!
