HAPPY HALLOWEEN! No tricks! This Halloween treat is delightfully spooky! Inspired by the coveted biestle JOL lantern from the 1930's. Entirely hand made and hand painted vintage style Halloween lantern! The lantern is made from paper pulp that I pressed into a mold. Then hand painted with several shades of orange, yellow and of course black. This is my all hallows tribute to my very favorite decoration, so the images of the bat, witch , veggie men and scratch cats are very close to the original design. I have even given him lots of little line detail to resemble the original. His insert is hand painted on orange tissue paper and then backed with orange crepe paper. On the back, one of the patron saints of Halloween, the scratch cat. This kitty head was also inspired by an early Beistle image and gives his backside a spooky finished look. Around the top I have attached some festooning to give him some extra vintage appeal. He measures about 8 ½ inches tall, about 9 inches across in front and is 5 ½ across at the opening. His outside has been given several coats of non toxic matte varnish for protection. He is completely one of a kind! BOO! And it just wouldn't be in keeping with the all hallows spirit if you couldn't get more than one treat... So to top him off, either for display or use, I have included three handpainted vintage noisemakers with images inspired by Beistle. Each one has been handpainted. They all have wooden handles. The round one with the kitty head measures almost 4 x 4 inches, the rectangle with the happy JOL is almost 4 and a quarter by 1 and a quarter. The triangle shaped one measures 7 ½ inches tall and about 2 inches across the top. This clanger has wooden balls on either side, but only one side is painted with a spooky JOL face the other side is black. This was old store stock and the others were t. cohn that I sanded and primed before painting. They have been varnished with non toxic matte varnish and can be wiped with a damp cloth if needed. This lantern was lovingly created by me, a complete hallowe'en nut, and is signed and dated and waiting to make a spectacular centerpiece for your Halloween celebration! sorry- the round and rectangle shaped noisemakers were originally kirchhof, not t chon as i stated above. although any identifyable marks were painted over. thanks!
