EARLY 20TH CENTURY SEMI-ANTIQUE SW PERSIAN TRIBAL QASHQA'I VANITY BAG DOWRY WEAVING. Excellent Condition! Colorful birds, goats, and jewelry-like amulettes are embroidered on an ivory wool plainweave field. The original backing is also embroidered with rows of geometric motifs. The dyes are derived from both natural vegetal and non-natural sources, typical of this time frame. A very similar piece like this specimen is published by Jim Opie in his classic book, "Tribal Rugs of Southern Persia", 1981. See pages 64-65. This old vintage collector's weaving shows nicely when used as a small wall hanging. A nice old collector find for any enthusiast of tribal or nomadic weavings. Clean and collection ready.
