Vintage Syroco Wood Cigarette Cards Trinket Box Acorns & leaf Motif Approx. 4 x 6 x 2 inches in size. Syroco made a lot of tobacco based items in the 1930’s-1050’s. Normally the boxes housed cigarettes and were together with their ashtrays and pipe holders. That being said – they were sometimes used for a deck of playing cards or for trinkets (jewelry, stamps, sewing items). Box Condition (See enlarged pictures above for closer view): Since this is an older piece, it has lots of paint rubs throughout; the Syroco corners are worn and show paint rubs. The bottom felt is scratched in places and missing a felt corner circle. It has it's original sticker "Made in USA SYROCO WOOD SYRACUSE, N.Y." Inside the top cover there are three line scratches: range from .5" 3/4" and 1 3/4". The top is adorned with acorns and maple leaves, and although it has no chips because the Syroco is poured in a mold; the raised portions of the box motif and corners have paint rubs - this only adds to the uniqueness of the piece. If you are looking for a pristine piece DO NOT bid on this auction!
