DESCRIPTION : This is a truly MAGNIFICENT vintage 980 silver (superior to sterling 925) bracelet that was handwrought in Taxco, Mexico, in the early to mid 1940's (since t is no eagle assay mark which was implemented by the Mexican government in 1948). This is an elegantly classical piece and is known as the "Knot and Three Beads Bracelet" designed by silversmith maestro, Hector Aguilar. It is shown in Penny C. Morrill's fabulous book, Silver Masters of Mexico , on page 132, Figure III-92. Aguilar worked with William Spratling at Taller de Las Delicias before leaving to open his own shop, Taller Borda ~ the Taller Borda closed in 1962. This bracelet is absolutely stupendous ~ it consists of five thick silver rectangular links with flowing incised designs with silver bead accents ~ the incised designs are heavily oxidized which highlights the silverwork beautifully ~ at the front and end of each link t are large silver balls ~ the links are pin hinged internally within the balls which gives this spectacular bracelet great design flow. The clasp is a pin closure, as seen on the very early Taxco silver bracelets, win a pin intersects balls at one secion of the bracelet to close the bracelet ~ the pin is attached to the bracelet with handwrought silver chains.
