DESCRIPTION : You are bidding a GORGEOUS sterling silver necklace and earring set that was made in Taxco, Mexico, before 1948. The necklace is masterfully crafted in a very classical organic motif ~ it consists of eleven sterling silver leaf links that have incised designs with niello which highlights the silverwork beautifully. The links are connected with soldered sterling "O" rings. The clasp is a simple hook closure that is seen on much of the early Taxco silver jewelry. The screwback earrings are crafted just as the links of the necklace. This is a timelessly elegant vintage Taxco set ~ a very classical design and it would be a grand asset to any Taxco silver collection! A coordinating bracelet is being offered on a separate auction. SIZE: Necklace: Inside circumference when closed is 17", width is 5/8", and weight is 42 grams. Earrings: Length is 1-1/2", width is 5/8", and weight is 10 grams. CONDITION : Superior vintage condition ~ no dents/dings to silverwork ~ no damage noted ~ just about PERFECT! HALLMARKS : Necklace and earrings are marked "TAXCO, JC, 925, HECHO EN MEXICO, STERLING". Silversmith "JC" is shown on page 219 of Bille Hougart's highly respected source book, The Little Book of Mexican Silver Trade and Hallmarks (2006 edition). PL EASE NOTE: Mexican vintage si lver jewelry is hand wrought, and tfore, not perfectly symmetrical ~ each piece will have variances that indicate that the piece is hand made ~ this does not constitute damage. Please look at all of the photos provided as they are a part of the description. Vintage pieces will show various signs of wear since they have been pre-loved ~ items are described to the best of my ability and any known damage will be noted.
