Up for auction is a vintage neckchain of Mexican make. It is an air-y 5mm wide chain made of two types of links: long ovals which are half turned (nearing a figure 8 shape) and smaller round wire links utilized as connectors; the pattern is alternated: first a curved link, then a connector, back to a curved length. The wearable length is 22 1/4" and the closure consists of an old style j-hook made from work-hardened sheet material silver and a round wire bolt-end. Since the hook will actually slip into any number of the links along the way, the wearable length becomes 'adjustable' so to speak, follow? The identifying marks on this piece are located on the closure's hook. It is marked as follows: (not all characters are legible in the otherwise circular stamping) _ _ _ _ EN MEX 925 around the letter (what appears to be an): I; an inventory or design line number: 15 (maybe 51); and an Eagle Assay No. 2 nearest the turned back tip end of the hook, see pics 5 & 6. The total weight is 9-9+g on a digital scale prior to packing. It is robust and not fragile as it's meticulously worked appearance suggests, and suitable for wear by either a man or a woman.
