Up for auction is a vintage TELL CITY CHAIR Co. tilted book shelf . It is made of solid maple hardwood with a beautiful #48 Andover finish. It has turned pieces fitted together on one end of the shelf to form a bookend . A round foot on the bottom of the other end tilts the s helf up so that books will rest against the single bookend. This piece has the original sticker attached to the bottomthat reads "Pattern 3259, Finish #48 Andover, Tell City Chair Co., Tell City , Indiana ." There is also a date code of O10. "The shelf is 12-5/8 inch long, varies in width from 4 to 5-3/4 inches, and is 1/2 inches thick. At the bookend side , it is 7 inches tall. This piece is in good to very good used cond ition. There are two small places on the side of the shelf wh ere the fi nish is missing. This can be seen in photographs 7 and 8. There is also light use and scuff marks to the shelf surface finish , worn fi nish on one corner , and a couple tiny flea bite nicks on the edge . Th ese surface imperfections are shown in photographs 9 and 10. Please see photographs. There is no other post-factory damage, such as dings, chips, cracks, scratches (except the scuffs as noted above), or repairs.
