Vintage THAYER/OWENS MAGIC SUPREME box This is a Thayer or Owens box. It is used for vanishing small livestock. It can accommodate two doves. It is essentially a take apart vanish. Its workings resemble the Grant Nightclub Dove Vanish. The base is taken apart as well. The base can initially be left for a sucker effect with a feather protruding down, than taken apart the rest of the way to show the livestock has indeed vanished. T is a piece of metal on the stand that I cannot identify, but I believe it to be connected with a way of using the sucker effect previously described. I bought it from a friend who sold it to me as an Owens Magic Supreme Box, but the designs are Thayer. While Owens Brothers absorbed Thayer many years ago, I do not know if they replicated this specific design. My friend did collect a lot of Owens equipment, so it might be a more recent Owens piece. I could not find a trademark anyw I recognize the Thayer design from a piece in a 1901 Thayer Catalogue although the design was on a different piece of apparatus. This is the most beautiful piece of magic I have ever owned. However, the condition is not mint. The colors are bright and the paint is beautiful. T are some scuff marks or perhaps wear marks on the inside and outside. These are not immediately apparent but can be seen under closer scrutiny. The brass read more
