Rare Vintage Tin Battery Op. Winner of the West Stagecoach. Alps, Japan Description Rare Vintage Tin Battery Op. Winner of the West Stagecoach. Alps, Japan A rare vintage tinplate battery operated Winner of the West Overland Stagecoach with 4 Galloping Horses, made in Japan by the Alps Company, in the 1950’s. This vintage toy measures an impressive 18 inches long by 4.5 wide and 6 inches tall. When switched on, the Stagecoach moves along, the horses appearing to gallop, while the driver moves back and forth, shaking his whip, and the man on the roof fires his rifle. The light on the side of the stagecoach also flashes, and the toy makes a sound as if the man's gun is firing. The toy is in very good working condition, with some wear to the tinplate commensurate with its age, but no serious rust. The battery box is clean and also rust free. I cannot see the lamp lighting, so this may need attention. There are excellent graphics all around the Stagecoach, showing the passengers at the windows. Marked “Alps” and “Made in Japan” on the rear of the carriage, just above the on-off switch. Unfortunately there is no box but it is still a rare battery toy and a nice addition to a battery, tinplate or cowboy collection. Please note that items posted abroad that cost more than £41 will be sent by an International Signed
