Vintage Tine Wooden Box Scandinavian Sweden Norway Finely crafted Scandinavian Tine wooden box made of a single piece of wood that has been bent into an oval and stitched with wooden cording. The overlap measures 1-1/2". The side pegs are single notched pieces of matching wood, the wooden bottom is attached with four tiny nails around the perimeter of the sides. On the front t is a Viking ship with red sails burned into the wood. On the back burned into the wood 'Karmoy'. The lid is made of nicely grained wood and on the underside the bent wood handle is attached by a wooden slot peg. The lid has red around the outside rim and a red handle. On the top of the lid are two shields with and axe, looks like it was hand drawn. On the underside of the lid t are burned in letters 'Fra chlaug' (or Fra ctslaug not sure) Box and lid have original light varnish. The only metal on this box are the four tiny nails that attach the bottom and two tiny nails that secure the side posts. Everything else is wood. Amazing detail on this hand made piece. T are no maker's marks on the bottom. I do not know how old this is.
