I have for you this neat old tole painted wood storage box I recently purchased at a very nice estate.The daughter remembered the purchase by her mother when she was a little girl.Was purchased in Florida in 1957 at a flea market,used at the time.The top opens to reveal a wood box insert with two compartments.Underneath the box a hidden compartment with some green thin foil I did not remove but will come clean.Two drawers on the bottom with wood separator between them.The background color is a redish-burnt brown with tole painted flowers,branches and leaves.Borders are outlined and dots are along the base and bottom of the lid.T are no damages just normal vintage wear with some small paint chipping giving this box great vintage charm.I did not clean was not sure what would be safe.I dusted with a clean dry cloth.Some dust is still present in the corners.The knobs, handle with finial and brackets are old brass.Made with excellent craftsmanship and superb artistry for the tole painting.Heavy for the size.13"H to the top of finial X 8"W X 7"D.Sits on four feet.Just so pretty!!
