Here is another of my vintage Japanese KOZUKA or TANTO (small samurai dagger) made in the tradition of the samurai sword with hand forged laminated high carbon steel that holds an edge like no other in the world. The tanto is commonly refered to as a knife or dagger. This blade is double edged and was designed primarily as a stabbing weapon, but the edge can be used for slashing as well. It is in every way a complete minature of a samurai sword right down to the magnolia wood shirasaya (scabbard). In several of the pictures you can actually see the lamination line between the hagane (high carbon cutting edge) and the forged iron base. There are pins in the handle (see pictures 10 & 11) for removing the blade to upgrade to a fancier handle and scabbard. Both handle and shirasaya (scabbard) are made of one piece of magnolia wood. The blade fits snug into the scabbard. Both blade and shirasaya have a graceful arch as seen in the pictures. It has been well used yet well loved and remains in very fine condition , still razor sharp with a generation of life for its next master. Measures a functional 9" overall (23 cm) including scabbard. Overall blade length is 3 1/2 " (9 cm) not including the habachi (blade ferrule). Old world craftsmanship for the new world craftsman. You'll love it, I guarantee it .........If you purchase this item read more
