Up for auction is a wonderful footed silver and enamel dish made by Towle Silversmiths in the 50s. The deep cherry transparent enamel has an incised swirl pattern on top and it is edged in black. It is a heavy weighted piece which is marked EP (Earl Pardon) 5006. T is an emblem consisting of a crest surrounding a lion (Sterling Silver?). The dish measures 7.5" in diameter x 1.75" tall. It is truly stunning. Experiments with enamelware at Towle Silversmiths were motivated by the enamel work of Margret Craver Withers and jewler/metalsmith Earl Pardon. This piece could have been designed by Earl Pardon.
