Vintage Toy China Cabinet Mary Lu J.C. Penny Playthings Prev Stop Play Next UNIQUE MARY LU TOY CHINA CABINET BY J.C. PENNY PLAYTHINGS ~~ FUN!!! This auction is for a very collectible toy china cabinet or hutch. Made by J.C. PENNY PLAYTHINGS and named Mary Lu. It looks great with little pieces of kitchenware, toy china, Blue Willow ~~ you name it! This is from my personal collection. I have enjoyed having it but it is time to let someone else enjoy it. Condition is good although it has wear & tear and t; you can see in the photos t is paint scraped off the doors. The cabinet itself is made of durable wood; maybe pine, oak or even fir, I'm not sure. Please understand this is a vintage cabinet and the wood is scratched, chipped and dented a bit. T's even a large pencil mark on one of the end panels. To me, it only added to the charm and I hope this is the case with you. It has the original medium stain that goes well with the blue finish on the backboard and cabinet door. The pressboard back is a little warped but only at the top. It's more apparent from the back than from the front. The doors open and close but the door on the left sticks at the bottom. I believe the pull handles are original. The top shelf has a little piece of wood that came up & it can be glued down if it presents a problem. It was never a problem for me b/c I had all my Blue Willow children's dishes and it did not show. T is also a nail hole right below the top shelf w someone (before me) must have hung it on the wall that way. This is pretty lightweight and if desired can be mounted on the wall. (Mounting saw-tooth hardware in place; see photo). Original label reads: "Mary Lu J.C. Penny Company Inc. Playthings" with a picture of a little girl in center. Measures 11-3/4" tall & 3-5/8" wide. Top shelf is 2" tall and bottom shelf is 3-3/4" tall. Please email w/ any questions. Measurements are approximate. I do not attempt to clean vintage items.
