The item being offered is a two-page, folded flyer advertising the "King" Air Rifle. Issued by the New England News Company of B oston, MA (likely a distributor of the air rifle), the flyer contains considerable detail on the specifications of the rifle. Around 1890, the Markham Manufacturing Company began to manufacture the "King" Air Rifle in direct competition with the Daisy. Pictured are the front and back panels of the flyer illustrating the air rifle being used by a young woman (front) and a young boy (back). Judging from the clothing in each case, the flyer likely was issued in the late nineteenth century. The inside of each page contains printed information about the air rifle, including specifications and price per dozen. It indicates that this air rifle was being marketed by the manufacturer of the "Chicago" Air Rifle. A small caption at the lower margin of the front cover indicates that the flyer was prepared by Seckett & Wilhelms Litho Company of NY. The dimensions of the flyer are approximately six inches by three and one-half inches. While intact, the flyer does show wear. The right-hand margin of the front cover has sustained some chipping. A small piece also is missing from the top right corner of the cover. The flyer also has some dirt and smudges on it, as would be expected of something of considerable interest read more
