Up for auction is a single heavily gilded traditional white wine glass with chunky ribbed olive green stem. This vintage glass hock has a clear blown and cut crystal cupola attached to a blown ribbed stem. The cupola has been etched with three grape clusters, leaves and vines through a wide gold band. The stem has four gripper berries that have been accented in gold as well. The stem is hollow and open on the botton finished with a cleanly ground edge. It has been adorned with rings of gold. This hock is a heavy German piece known as a 'Römer' glass. Used for serving wines from the Rhine and Mosel riversides, it is in excellent condition.T are no nicks, dings, chips nor repairs. Height: 7 1/4 inches Diameter rim: 2 3/8 inches Diameter base: 3 inches Weight: 8.0 ounces The hock is marked 'Neviges' which is a very small town in the valley of the Hardenberger Brook in North Rhine-Westphalia. Like Lourdes, Neviges is a place of pilgrimage. Please be assured that I will pack this hock with the utmost of care in tissue paper and bubble wrap to make sure that it arrives safely in your home.
