You are bidding on a horn that is from an estate sale and believed to be either a Cornet or a trumpet. It is silver in color and has the word RECORD etched on the bell. The color of the metal is the same where it is etched. It is 20 inches from the bell opening to where the mouthpiece is inserted. The heavy mouthpiece is 3 1/2 inches long. It is equipped with a mute that is marked FREE-TONE STRAIGHT MUTE, A MICRO PRODUCT. This vintage horn also comes with black case with blue felt lining. The case is in rough shape with the handle missing but the latch working. The valves on the horn appear to function properly. The tops of the valves appear to have an ivory cover. The only markings that I found on the horn are on the valves, they are stamp numbered 25, 26 and 27 respectively from back to front. In the case is a customs receipt that describes the instrument as BRASS WIND W/CUP MOUTHPIECE P1541 and indicating a value of 28.00. It is dated 10-13-1955 and indicating that it came from Denmark. The horn appears to be in very good condition with no dents, wear or damage.
