This wonderful old item is an orignal, vintage TURTLE SPITTOON It's head, body, legs and feet are cast iron.It's shell and bowl are tin.The whole body and shell have a bronze finish thathas aged to a beautiful patina. The spittoon is signed on the inside rim in raised, embossed letters Golden & JacobsonsPat'd Nov. 10, 1891Chicago It is a bit difficult to read because of its age. This is a "working" spittoon!The turtle's head, when stepped on, will raise his shelland reveal the tin spitton cup inside.The cup has a small, attached handle that rests in afitted slot for secure storing when the turtle's shell is closed.The cup is easily removable for emptying. This spittoon measures aprox. 14" long by 11" wide by 4" high. It is in wonderful, vintage (and used) condition! It is all original and complete .It is completely functional and has very little wear, if any. This turtle has been in my parents personal collection for years and years! They were great admirers of unusal antique items.
