Yes, it is, the late 50's tweed Gibson GA-40 ...otherwise infamously known as the one and only Chocolate Godzilla. This is the actual amp used in the Vintage Guitar Magazine feature on them, and is pictured in the magazine as well as was on the cover with the Black Crowes guitarist. These are as rare as can be...you will often find the earlier two-tone with the LP scroll and also the maroon/buffalo grey for sale , but those circuits aren't close to what this one delivers . If you are reading it, you already know the deal. Huge fat and brown greasy gain, two channels with the first having a giant tremolo, about twice that of any blackface. The second channel is even more juicy with thick, rich, natural distortion perfection. Molasses sweet compression and brown sugar sag for dirty nasty blues and slide. As good as it gets, nothing will ever touch these. Vox even copied the shelving cut knob and used it for the AC-30 designs. If you can't sound good with this amp, give it up. Amps is all original down to trannies and original handle with three-prong added for safety, footswitch wired in for the missing original, Eminence Swamp Thang speaker replacing the dried out 50 year old undergunned Jensen, plus has been gone through by amp whiz Jeff Bakos of Atlanta who handles all of the work for The ToneQuest Report and is 100 percent righteous, amazing, and the absolute king daddy. I've owned a few and played many, they are all huge and special---as long as you get them from the late 50's. Why selling this one? It has the least wear of the two, the other has casters in it from gigs and the tweed has all fallen off! I'm tempted to list it at 2800, since crappier versions have gone for 2500, but will keep the BIN low and fair to hopefully allow another true player with their heart in the right place to get him. Amp ships to continental US lower 48 only please. Thanks. Is sold as is because we are not shipping this rare vintage beast around the country on whims. It is 100 percent roaring, good to go, ready to crank all night long. Includes being freshly loaded with new Groove Tube 6V6 power tubes,a NOS 5y3 and also hand-selected NOS vintage 5879 tubes. See perfect feedback on many vintage guitars and amps sold. Shipping is $82 and includes full insurance to value, full packaging, bubble wrapped to the gills, tubes labeled and pulled/bubble wrapped, footswitch bubbled, and in a thick heavy-duty professional shipping box, via Fed-Ex Ground with tracking supplied and direct signature required. Packed as well as any amp you will ever receive. Any questions feel free to ask away. Best of luck to you-and by all means, enjoy.
