This is a rare ring, the first we have seen and it is special in its own right. It is a large heavy ring of the college class type but it is a combination of metals -- I guess siladium with 10KT Gold accented. Maybe this was sold through the PX at one of the Army Aviation school bases BEFORE vietnam. It is massive and still very nice. Ring and faceted red stone are flawless. This is a faceted color stone, no scuff marks, no chips, not real . One side has a fixed wing aircraft image and Liaison Pilot wings and below it the roman numerals MCMXLII and the other side has an UH-1H Huey and Helo Pilot wings and the words ABOVE THE REST below. On top are the words U.S. ARMY AVIATION in a circle around the stone. All the imagery on the ring is not worn at all---VERY NICE condition. In all, very collectible. Inside the shank is clean -- not stamped with anything. The ring is heavy 19.8446 -Grams and a size 12.5 [ I am not a jeweler ... I have described this item as best as I can] Good Luck Bidding.
