You are bidding on a vintage box of LaFrance Supplemental Detergent distributed by GENERAL FOODS CORP, NY , made in U.S.A., which has never been opened . This box includes both the economy size and the smaller regular size package which is attached to the front and has never been opened . These boxes are in very good condition and are unique so they would make a great addition to your display collection.

On the front of the regular size package, it says: New LaFrance Bluing with Luminess; 1 cent Sale. It is blue and yellow with black, blue and red text. It measures approximately 5 1/4" W X 3 5/8" H. The larger attached economy size box is blue and brown with blue, black and red text. The back has a photo of a woman hanging laundry and says: It's Easy to Have Whiter, Brighter Clothes with LaFrance; blues as you wash - right in the wash water. One side of the box also has a drawing of a woman in lingerie washing nylons with "Nylon News!" According to the box, the net weight is 6 ounces, and it measures approximately 5 1/2"W X 8 1/4" H.

The instructions indicate that this detergent was meant to be used with any soap or soapless detergent and could be used in any washer - "can't clog soap chutes or stick to moist surfaces; Luminess is a revolutionary new bluing compound providing regular bluing action plus a new light-reflecting action that makes white clothes whiter and colored clothes brighter."
