You're bidding on an exceptionally nice Vintage USAF N-2B Aircrew Flying Jacket by Alpha Industries, Inc., in size medium (38"- 40" chest). The N-2B is perhaps the most versatile, comfortable, and stylish cold weather jacket ever produced for the USAF. It is also one of the most widely copied military jackets of all time, but no civilian knock-off could ever come close to duplicating the genuine article. Without question, the N-2B represents the ultimate achievement in design, engineering, and quality more than any other modern military jacket. And those produced in the early to mid 1960s under MIL-J-6278D, such as this one, are perhaps the best examples of the type. The features of the N-2B were engineered to meet the needs of combat aircrews in extremely cold climates in a way that no other intermediate flight jacket or bulky parka could achieve. The design is compact with a knit waistband and cuffs for a snug yet flexible fit. For warmth, insulation is provided by a 100% wool pile interlining (between the nylon outer shell and inner lining), while generous overlapping flaps seal the front closure from wind.
