This is a vintage USSR era Sukoi T-4 Display model that was aquired by a russian friend and aviation / space collector . The aircraft is made of wood and has great paint work and decals .Model is 13 inch long and 9 wide from wing tip to wing tip Note the landing gear is very fragile and when I get it from Russia the front get had been repaired The model is very basic display model wise as my Russian contact told me that hardly any display models were made of the T-4 due to the limited time of project and the lack of enthusism by the Russian military and the Kremlin for the T-4. My contact says that less then 20 models of the T-4 were producted in various scales as display models This is a really a nice piect for any aircraft collection The Sukhoi T-4 , or "Aircraft 100", or "Project 100", or "Sotka" was a Soviet high speed reconnaissance, anti-ship and strategic bomber aircraft that did not proceed beyond the prototype stage In 1963, the Soviet government held a competitive tender among the aircraft design bureaus, with the aim of developing an aircraft analogous to the North American XB-70 Valkyrie . The Sukhoi design, with its high cruise speed of 3,200 km/h (2,000 mph) was favored over the designs submitted by Yakolev and Tupolev and after a preliminary design review in June 1964, the building of a prototype was authorized. read more
