Nice older Van Briggle art pottery pitcher dates to the 1930s, according to the long tails on the Gs and P in the signature. Condition first, so you don't read all the way through to find it's got some little issues...the pictures will all show dark crazing, mostly around the bottom (where the color is lighter), on the inside and on the handle. Along the top rim are old mineral stains, which should come off easily with some LCR. There's a dark silvery stain along the bottom, visible in picture 1, which might come off with the right cleaner. And that's it for downers! On the upside, there are no chips, cracks or damage and the blend of blue and teal is just super....love that smoooooth matte glaze Van Briggle's known for. Stands 6" high and about 5.5" from handle to spout. The bottom is 3 3/8" across. The dealer who sold me this says it's common practice to soak items in bleach to lighten up any dark crazing (??HUH??)...I won't do it, but the suggestion is out there in case the high bidder wants to try. If it were up to me, I'd leave the crazing...in my opinion, it only adds character and confirms its age. Shipped priority mail with insurance and delivery confirmation added as a handling charge. I start my auctions with a low opening bid, which merely keeps listing fees down and in NO way means that I'm selling reproduction crap. I'm not a professional, and don't pretend to be, so I welcome "kind" comments with a smile and get rid of the rest with a sharp tap of that DELETE button. I don't "fluff" a description to make an item seem nicer than it is, as that's messing with karma, and we all know that karma can get you at any time. I try to be easy to work with and am honest to a fault, so accusations of 'funny stuff' will land you a prime spot on my blocked bidders list. Shipping is combined whenever possible, but I won't pack cast iron with pottery, so don't even ask! I ship mostly on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as these are the days I'm not at work, so there's no need to rush your payment to me...paying on a Friday night will not get your item shipped on Saturday. I have a 5-day window for shipping, but if I anticipate a delay, I'll let you know. Please remember that eBay's shipping calculator is not 100% accurate, and I make no money off shipping costs-- the USPS beat me to that!---but many's the time I pay extra out of pocket because high bidders pay before they get an invoice. I used to feel 'funny' asking for additional funds for shipping, but this is the New Year. Now the only thing that makes me feel funny is too much Bacardi, so PLEASE don't send any payment until the auction's over and I have your zip code. I normally don't refund shipping costs for returned items, but there are exceptions to every rule, and if I find an exception applies to you, you'll get it all back.
