As the snow falls on our Connecticut coastline and creates mountains of drifts in this Winter wonderland, I am releasing a HUGE ASSORTMENT of VINTAGE ESTATE LINENS in anticipation of an early Spring! There was such quantity and diversity amongst these textiles, that I had a very enjoyable time grouping them in generous LOTS by age, era, coordinating colors, or unique themes. Many of the pieces were clearly UNUSED BRIDAL SHOWER GIFTS from many decades ago, while others had been very gently used and offered so much in a grouped display from the kitchen to the bathroom, bedroom and beyond. Please be certain to view the entire assortment as many can be combined to provide an "instant collection" and distinctive vintage display! Offered for auction is a wonderful group of VINTAGE HIP CHIC RETRO LINEN DISHTOWELS DISH TOWELS in four individual patterns, all tucked inside a fifth linen dishtowel envelope! It appears that a clever former owner simply stitched up the sides and left an envelope "flap" to create a 15 1/2" x 9" (when closed) for the storage of the kitchen towels. Crisp, bright printed graphics of fruit that includes: CHERRY, WATERMELON SLICE, PEARS, APPLES, STRAWBERRIES, LEMON in RETRO SHADES of GREENS, TEAL and YELLOW against a NATURAL LINEN background. The ENVELOPE contained FOUR (4) folded dishtowels and the colors and motifs mix splendidly together! #1 VINTAGE VERA SIGNED with the LADYBUG logo, printed dishtowel that measures: 16" WIDE x 26" LONG. Floral graphics of shades in blue, CROCUS shaped images. There is also a tiny rayon seam tag with the VERA logo and "ALL LINEN". The dishtowel appears UNUSED and I still feel some of the original sizing on the finish....EXCELLENT CONDITION! #2 VINTAGE LINEN DISHTOWEL with large blue floral printed graphics. Measures: 30" LONG x 16" WIDE and is signed LUTHER TRAVIS on the lower corner and has a small seam tag that reads: FALLANI & COHN ALL LINEN. EXCELLENT UNUSED CONDITION and I can still feel some of the original sizing finish. #3 VINTAGE HOT PINK & ORANGE BOLD FLORAL GRAPHICS LINEN DISHTOWEL. Measures: 29" LONG x 20" WIDE and is signed: PAMELA KAY, along with a stamp that reads: IRISH LINEN in the left corner and JONELLE on the opposite corner. EXCELLENT UNUSED CONDITION and I still feel the all original sizing finish. #4 VINTAGE LINE DISHTOWEL in a FRUIT THEMED printed pattern that measures: 29" LONG x 16" WIDE and blends AQUA, TURQUOISE, OLIVE GREEN and hints of LILAC in a very pretty retro clustered fruit design. A small seam tag reads: FALLANI & COHN ALL LINEN. EXCELLENT UNUSED CONDITION and I still feel the original sizing finish. Along with the famed VERA, research yielded some information on the artists within this LOT: PAMELA KAY textile designer from ENGLAND. She designed for many of the top manufacturers of finest European linens but returned to her paintings in the midst of a highly successful stint within the linen textile industry. Her exhibitions are regularly viewed in various London locations. FALLANI & COHN Noted textile designers based out of Tappan NY imported many textiles from Europe as a quality leader in this industry. Fallani & Cohn maintains its own showroom on Fifth Avenue in New York City. LUTHER TRAVIS, famous textile artist and designer dating back to the 1950's but is well known for his designs from the 1960's with an emphasis on florals and fruits. He still maintains an avid interest in florals and is noted for his cultivation of 2,000 orchids in Manhattan and is an active member of the Manhattan Orchid Society.A wonderful assortment of VINTAGE LINENS and a superior addition to a collection, or a lovely start to a new one! The generous sizes of these linen towels also lends for usage as table runners or small table toppers, layered atop a coordinating or contrasting tablecloth.
