Up for auction is a vintage finger ring set with a large chunk of a creamy golden hued piece of ivory, walrus or good quality old bone in a silver (content unknown) mounting. Pretty much you'll need to take a look at the photos to see if this bold piece will work for you. What I see is a jumbo sized piece of what I think is ivory...it does not have the 'splinteriness' of bone to my eye yet I don't see a graining....maybe walrus?...is is smoothly polished, of almond shape and measures: 3/4+" wide (side to side) x 1 5/8" long and sets up above a smooth edged bezel about 3/16" (about 6mm or so). I know for certain that this piece is not new yet it looks to be in nice condition as it is, uncleaned, with a moderately formed patina on the metal portion (and on those tiny bracket type arms on the underneath/inner side of mounting I do see some green cell corrosion) the stone itself has mellowed yellow coloration to it. This piece was purchased second hand from an estate which had an unusually deep collection of artisan jewelry...most looking 60's forward however, read more
