These Victorian chokers are fine examples of period costume jewelry. I believe they were also called “dog collars”. The one collar has approx. 20 strands of the tiniest seed pearls on each side of the center section. The center section consists of a piece of cream-colored grosgrain ribbon (approx.4.75’’x2’’) . The ribbon is studded with wonderful vintage rhinestones which still retain much of their sparkle. The hook closure in back has been covered with a strip of Velcro (removable) for ease in dressing. T are a couple of strands that have come open. These can be re-secured without too much trouble by someone who does beadwork (see bead shops). A few strands, while still attached, look fragile and probably should also be re-secured to be on the safe side. This is not a perfect necklace but sure is a lovely historical piece. Would look lovely with a low-cut top. Size: Length is approx. 14’’. The other choker/dog collar is also a vintage piece of costume jewelry favored in Victorian times and generally worn with low-cut gowns. The ecru silk grosgrain ribbon measures approx. 2’’ wide and 13.5” long. The hook closures in back are in original condition (no Velcro added).
