I am pleased to offer at auction this wonderful old Victorian German Blue Porcelain Salt or Salz Box. Purchased at an old Kansas farm estate is this exceptional piece of kitchen ware right out of the victorian era. Featuring an outstanding blue tranfer of a large windmill with small houses and a lake surrounding, a small boat is in the lake with a gogeous stream of clouds over head and the gold stenciled word "SALZ " The molding of the box is breathtaking with roman victorian ribbed pillars on all four corners and a sculpted step rim and base. Measures 11 3/4 inches tall and is 4 1/2 inches wide across the heavy sculpted lip and measures 4 1/2 inches deep. Manufacturer is not known but the base is marked with an insist mark of the number 8. Original finish on the lid and hanger with a lovely spoon carving on the face of the hanger giveing this box a real victorian feel. Condition is wonderful with No Chip, Cracks or Repairs and the porcelain is crisp and white with only a few very small firing pox and brown dots. Transfer is clear and crisp but the Gold stenciling on the word "SALZ" has some wear and t is some browning to the top of the box w the lid has sat for many years also the lid to the box has a very rusty hing that is a little lose { All of this can be seen in our photographes } GUARANTEED AUTHENTIC AND OLD I truly cannot read more
