T arent enough words to say how nice this old scrapbook is. It has stories to tell of several area families from the Urbana and Arthur Ill. area. One is of a predominate pioneer doctor Dr. J.B Rigney who lived in Arthur and Urbana Illinois. Many of his relatives are mentioned like Sara Rigney and t are two pictures with names one appears to be Maria and her husband whose name first name I cant quite make out. T is a business card for Graphic Bookstore Haney and Rigney Proprietors Arthur Ill. T are many obituary notices for this family the largest being for J.B. Rigney who I believe died around 1910. He married a Orra F. Mcdonald in 1868. This leads us to the next family mentioned which is the McDonnalds. John McDonnald was a stock broker from the Champain Urbana area. He belonged to many masonic organiziations. T are many small cards listing his name and masonic orders. He was a commander. T is info on his belonging in 1875 to the royal arch masons. He was tragiclly killed in a train accident involving the Illinois Central Railroad in 1886 along with several other people. The accident happened in Savoy Ill. T are several article from newspapers of the time about the wreck listing all those who died. T also is letter from the local masonic lodge giving simpathy to the family and admonishing the Ill. Central railroad for neglect. read more
