Vintage Vogue Vogart Tinted Embroidered Pillow Cover
A pretty lady, a basket of flowers and a butterfly! A pretty pillow for you cottage or sunroom.
Tinted and embroidered on cotton muslin. The tinting is bright with only light fading; no bleeding of colors. No spots/stains/holes. The majority of the needlework is in very good condition. T are a couple areas of weakened embroidery floss--on the centers of the right pink and middle blue flowers and on the basket. Displays well. I did not make any repairs but these areas could be gone over with black floss.
The pillow cover was finished with a golden color lip cord. Open at the bottom for pillow insert.
Vogue markings. Instructions on the inside of the cover read --"outline with black-self color in flowers and leaves". Approx. 15 x 15. The auction is for the cover only; use a standard 16 x 16 pillow form for the insert. Washed and ready to use.
Check out The Thread and Needle Fairy store for books of reproduced tinted linen patterns.
Some fun information about tinted embroidered linens and pillows:
Tinted and embroidered pillows, crib covers and other linens were very popular during the 1900's-1950's. The items were purchased as stamped/tinted pieces or in kits with floss and instructions and were then embroidered by the purchaser.
