Item Description A beautiful vintage/antique reticulated or pierced porcelain centrepiece or bowl by Von Schierholz of Plaue, Thuringia ( Germany ), decorated with applied roses and supported by two putti or cherubs. There are several more pictures of it at the end of these details. Approximate Size 6 ¼” tall to the top of the cherub’s heads and 4 ½” to the rim of the bowl which is about 8 ¼” by 6 ¼” ( excluding the cherubs). Condition We have examined it very carefully and found the following specific faults: ● an old tight hairline crack at one end of the bowl directly in front of one of the cherubs ● the bottom of the same cherub's left wing has broken off and is missing ● a small slightly rough patch in the glaze at the opposite end of the bowl (in about the same relative position as the hairline) ● small nick to five of the applied leaves None of these faults is immediately obvious and the centrepiece displays very well. Please see the pictures at the end of these details for a better idea of the condition. Maker’s Marks The bottom the bowl is marked as shown below. Age I believe that the back mark dates it to between 1907 and 1927. Comments A very decorative and collectable item.
