W.F.Cody Cabinet Card Description : Sepia toned cabinet card of Col.W.F.Cody , a.k.a. "Buffalo Bill" Cody. He is one of the most legendary characters of the old west and his name endures to this day. He founded his show named " Buffalo Bill's Wild West" in 1883. He featured actual performers and personalities from the West, such as Annie Oakley (sharpshooter), Wild Bill Hickock (old west gunfighter and lawman), and Sitting Bull (Indian chief who defeated Custer). The show toured the world and appeared in such countries as England and France in the late 1800's. Cody is shown in the photo dressed in a fringed buckskin coat with riding crop and a Winchester rifle all set against a studio backdrop of a rural scene with his saddle at his feet. Photo taken by a New York photographer : "Stacy" of" Brooklyn ". Facsimile signature on back. This was in with a lot of postcards that my father had saved from his parents belongings, I am not an expert on postcards so please see my scan for condition.
