Early 1900’s Vintage WASHBURN Bowl Back MANDOLINE ~ Cremonatone Serial # 1196544 Here is an Early 1900's Bowl Back Washburn Mandolin. This mandolin needs some work. It has nicks and scratches, but you have to expect that on a mandolin that is over 100 years old. · It was probably made before 1910 - that's about when Washburn dropped the "Cremonatone" from the label. · It has 20 frets which is supposed to help date it. · Made from beautiful wood. Needs a bit of cleaning and polishing. · There are surface scratches and dings from years of use. · Needs new strings. · One tuner dial bracket broke off, but all parts are there · There is a separation in the wood on back · 24” from top to base · ** Please look at all the pictures carefully we tried to show the condition of this instrument ** There is a PAPER LABEL INSIDE the mandolin which says "Best in the World" No. 196544 the material and workmanship of this Washburn Instrument, fully guaranteed for the term of one year from date of original purchase, provided this label is not mutilated”. Around the edges of the label is says “Highest Award at Worlds Columbian Exposition , Chicago 1893” . Also says “Gold Medal and Diploma of Honor Antwerp 1894”.
