This knife was in my dad's WWII Army trunk so I suspect it is quite old. - notice ornateness on top of knife reads PUMA solingen rosteri reads WEIDMANNSHEIL in a scroll on band - vines on back band (sorry I am not knife terminiolgogy savvy) and sort of a rayed sun on base of handle. Sheath is stitched very ornate with metal accents - deer head and deer on one side and hunting bag with horn and vines on other side. Some green discoloration on metal which could be cleaned but as I am not a collector I did not want to touch. The blade is excellent - like new. leather stitched sheath. ( German made 1882-1991) Weidmannsheil Brand Knife with Leather sheath, 9" long, Blade is 8 1/2" long. Made in Solingen ,Germany . The Weidmansheil factory is now closed. No longer made. This blade itself is very sharp and excellent. This small German company specialized in high grade hunting knives for the German and Austrian hunters. Weidmannsheil is the greeting German hunters use. It means good luck and good hunting. CONDITION: Excellent condition of blade - shiny, like new. Sheath is in very good condition with a ew a few small marks on top of leather. Great vintage knife for your collection!
