~ WGP FEST #7 ~Vintage West German Pottery Jugvase - Scheurich 484-27Another medium sized piece of vintage WGP for you next, a jugvase example this time, again by Scheurich and in a complex glazing combination. Measuring approximately 27cm in height and a maximum girth of around 50cm this stunning piece is decorated to a dark brown subglaze with thick drip-glaze bands of vibrant orange and mid-tone red. In addition to this is extensive white drip-glazing that has created variegated streaking to the brown layer as well as lighter patches of streaking to the orange and red bands. The drip glaze extends to the handle and rim sections, it overhangs the base rim (see photo). The form is slightly ovoid in shape with a thick handle and stepped rim. The interior is of mottled brown. The vase is press marked to the base with the form number and origin, as per the additional image. The piece is in mint condition A pleasing form and a good retro glazing combination that appears to have everything thrown at it. A little busy for some, I know there are plenty of bidders out there who love these for their size and decorative qualities. It is eye-catching, fabulous condition and starting at a ridiculous price, what more could you ask for? Judging by the demand for my pieces over the last few weeks, WGP is as popular today as it has ever been with read more
