STAR BUY (2)~ WGP FEST #8 ~RARE Vintage West German Pottery Vase - Jasba 020 12 19I decided to have two star buys (my recommendations) for this batch so here is the second, a rare bottle jugvase piece by Jasba in a very uncommon metallic lava glaze. Measuring approximately 19cm in height and with a base diameter of 7.5cm this piece is decorated to a dark brown subglaze with the most fantastic volcanic glaze of variegated bubble form. It has the appearance of metal, quite extraordinary, it actually looks as though it has a layer of rust on it with copper hint inclusions. In places the glaze is of matt appearance, in others there is a flash of the hi-gloss subglaze that looks like metal strips, very difficut to explain but it is extremely effective. The form is almost baluster shaped to the neck portion where it has a thick handle a deep inverted rim. The interior is hi-gloss brown. The piece is press marked to the base with the form number, as per the additional image. The piece is in mint condition and retains its original sticker.I cannot say enough good things about this piece, I have never seen this glaze before on any Jasba form and I have to say it is an absolute triumph. I am not even sure of its age, 1960's I suppose, it is uncommon in the UK and one of those pieces you would just have to have in your collection.A real stunner.
