This beautiful classic Western Electric Model 302 telephone is a completely reconditioned, fully functional antique, not a replica. The reserve price on this auction is significantly less than the prices of the same type of phones available for sale at the online boutique antique phone stores, yet the phone is the same as you'd receive from one of these high end stores. This particular telephone has been painstakingly reconditioned to preserve its originality and history. W hile you may see some extremely minor imperfections, their patina reflects the history of this phone. It has been waxed and shined and has that smooth feel to the touch. The thermoplastic housing and heavy bakelite handset have been cleaned, polished and buffed to a nice glow. While t are very minor cosmetic imperfections resulting from over 50 years of use, the phone is in excellent condition. The pictures show the shine and possibly some reflections of the lighting. The number one on the dial is worn and some of the other numbers are a little light. The two stampings inside the phone show 5-51, which may imply a May 1951 production date. The dial has that nice clicking sound and has a very clean porcelain number plate (metropolitan style, numbers and letters). The center dial card has been replaced with a facsimile of a dial card that is similar to the one that would have been on the phone when it was put into service. The handset cord is the original black non-coiled vinyl. The base cord is the original brown cloth cord, with a four prong plug. I've attached the original base line cord to an adapter fitted with an updated modular plug on the end of it, which will enable this phone to be connected to any standard modular phone jack. When this beautiful phone comes out of the box, it will be ready to plug in to start using immediately. The inside of the phone has been cleaned and checked thoroughly, with all connections tightened. Even the bells have been cleaned and polished and are tuned to be in perfect harmony for that desirable and nostalgic old time ringing sound. The dial has been inspected and lubricated and it operates smoothly. The handset has been cleaned and shined. It transmits and receives perfectly. The feet covers are original and in good condition. Part of our testing process is to connect the phone to use for a few weeks to ensure that it is working properly. We guarantee that this phone will arrive in working condition. Please contact us via email with any questions. Although we test each phone before it goes out, if your phone does not work, we will gladly help you get it to work or we will replace it with another close to identical working, fully functional, reconditioned Western Electric Model 302 phone. The Western Electric model 302 telephone is a classic example of the art deco style of the 1930's and 1940's. Designed by famous industrial designer Henry Dreyfus, the model 302 served the Bell System from the late 30's until the mid 50's. It is also referred to as the "Lucy phone" because it was used many times on the "I Love Lucy" program, which aired on television in the 1950's. Shipping and handling is $14.00 within the Continental US . This fee does not include shipping outside of the continental United States . Please contact me before paying if you require shipping outside of the continental US, as shipping costs will be determined by your location. Payment through Pay Pal is due within 2 days of end of auction. This phone is an all around beautiful and fully functional antique telephone for decoration, collecting or everyday use. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions you may have. Thanks for looking, and have fun bidding.
