I have up for auction a rare vintage white jade pendant necklace. I recently purchased the whole jewelry estate of this lady that once lived in the Middle East, and her husband told me that they done alot of traveling after he retired from his job in Alaska. She had collected alot of jewelry from their travels over the years, and this is one of her pieces from the Orient. I don't know exactly how old the piece is, but I did have it checked, and the gold tested 14k. The pendant is made with 3 pieces of jade, put together with 14k gold, and is suspended on a rolled cloth necklace, with a screw clasp. The tag on the clasp reads, TSENG on one side, and on the other side there is some Chinese writing, but I do not know what is says. I took pictures with and without the flash so you can see what it looks like in different light. There are 2 pictures with light shining through from the back of the pendant, to show the beautiful translucence of the piece. I can not make out exactly what the figure is, but you can see vines and leaves on both sides. Above the pendant is a flat round circle of jade, then above that, is some kind of a little animal figure. Could be a cat, or a frog, not quite sure, but it seems to be in a curled up sleeping position. The head has eyes and nostrils, and when you look at the bottom, it has 4 little feet. It's really quite interesting and a very lovely piece!
