Halloween Art n Vintage Wares
.Hi, I am a Chester County, PA folk artist and a second generation antique dealer. Since I am now painting full time, the antiques have taken a back seat. While I no longer have an antique shop, I still have a passion for old things! Often when I am out looking for interesting things to paint on, I find other great vintage treasures that I must bring to share with you. is one of them! An old 1920's Whitman's Chocolate tin. It has a great Art Nouveau mosaic design on the lid. The center piece shows a woman with long flowing hair wearing an intricate headpiece. The original design is from an 1898 Alphonse Mucha Zodiac Calendar design. Above her is the Whitman name, and below her is the word Salmagundi! The tin originally held 2 pounds of delicious chocolates -- now it can hold whatever you like!

Many people feel that it is improper to use 'vintage' to describe an item unless you qualify it with a year. They worry that since t is no specific date associated with 'vintage', that items made yesterday could be called 'vintage'. While I am sure some people out t do that, I do not. My use of the word vintage is in accordance to the unabridged definitions. So, in addition to the previously mentioned definitions of vintage, the following are also equally valid: Characterized by excellence, maturity, and enduring appeal; classic.
Representing the high quality of a past time: vintage cars; vintage movies.Old-fashioned or obsolete: vintage jokes Being the best of its kind Contrary to the belief of many, this is not a new use of the word brought on by Ebay sellers -- according to the online Etymology Dictionary, vintage has been used in this sense (being of an earlier time) since 1883! THANKS FOR LOOKING!!
