Found at a brocante {flea market} in the south of France, a large vintage (circa 1930s) hand blown thick clear glass wine jug/demijohn encased in woven willow (wicker). Two distinct weaves in the wicker create a unique design. Wonderful aged patina. Thick braided handle is sturdy. Bottom is intact. Demijohn wine jugs were encased in wicker to keep the contents in the bottle cool. Measures 14" tall with a base diameter of 5.5". We love these vintage European wicker encased bottles (demijohns) displayed on a fireplace hearth, perched on a buffet table or kitchen counter. So French Country chic! Popular vintage accessorie as seen in all your favorite decorating magazines. Shipped within the USA via FedEx.
