Original Show Chaps belonging to 1940's-50's Western Actor, "Wild Bill" Elliott, star of "The Red Ryder" and many Hollywood films. These chaps were made for Bill Elliott by the famous western saddlemaker, Buck Steiner of Austin, TX. The makers mark is inside of belt area on chaps. Included with these beautifully decorated tan and red leather chaps is a notorized letter of provinence from Autumn Mahoney, the widow of Jock Mahoney, fellow actor and personal friend of Bill Elliott along with a complete chronological film biography of the western star. The provinence letter reads as follows: These western chaps were the personal property of Gordon ("Wild Bill") Elliott, who was one of the screens top western stars in the 1940's & 50's. He probably wore them in some of his "Wild Bill Elliott" films made for Republic Pictures or the "Red Ryder" series which ran in the 1940's. He presented them to my husband "Jocko Mahoney", when he was the star of the "Range Rider" television series. Jocko had been a fan of Bill Elliott's for many years and now became a fan of Jock's. They remained good friends throughout their careers and lives, and Jocko treasured these chaps because of the man they represented. The letter is signed Autumn Mahoney dated Dec. 23, 1993 and notorized in The State of Washington, County of Kitsap by a notary public. I obtained these chaps 15 years ago from the son-in-law of Autumn Mahoney in the Seattle area. I accept Paypal. Payment must be made within 24 hours of the close of auction.
