Vintage William Spratling Sterling & Rosewood Ladle Circa 1944-46 Vintage sterling silver & rosewood ladle by William Spratling. Delicately hand hammered bowl with slant rope design at end of silver. Fine example of Spratling silver from the 1940s. Marked: SPRATLING MADE IN MEXICO encircling his WS hallmark (see photo) and STERLING under the circle. (Hallmark used between 1944-46) Measures: 6 1/2" long, 2" across bowl, 3/4" wide at handle. Weight: 2.0 oz or 56.7 grams or 1.82 troy weight. (including handle) Condition: Excellent, very light gentle scratches from use, no breaks or cracks on wood, no dents or dings to silver but does have some sort of firing pitting at back of ladle above trademark (please see photo). Wood shows lighter in photos because of flash, a gentle cleaning will bring out the grain. Silver also needs cleaning and polishing, will leave that to the Buyer.
