VINTAGE WINDUP TOY BABY DOLLTrademark Modern Toys – Japan This auction buys a cute wind-up crawling babydoll – probably dates to the 1960’s. Manufacturer’s foil sticker on belly is partially torn but reads "TRADE MARK – MODERN TOYS – JAPAN" with a diamond-shape logo above MODERN TOYS (symbol inside diamond looks like Japanese lettering). Doll has metal torso with soft rubber legs, arms & head. Head can be manually turned from side to side. Arms & legs are positioned for crawling & when wound, baby crawls in forward direction. Wind key is located on her belly – when wound, baby’s arms & legs move as she crawls in forward direction. Doll is wearing her original outfit made of soft off-white flannel with matching bonnet & light pink flannel bib under her chin. Her painted face is sweet with big blue side-glancing eyes & pink rosebud mouth. She has reddish brown molded hair with ¾" rooted light brown hair that peeks out as a curl under her baby bonnet. Doll measures about 4½" long & is in good vintage condition – no breaks or damage to rubber and clothing is good with no tears or stains. She needs just a little clean up & you’ll have a wonderful piece to add to your Vintage Toys, Wind-up Dolls or Made In Japan Collection!
