Vintage small Folk Art, Tramp Art, Arts and Crafts parquetry wooden cabinet. It measures 16 3/4" from bottom to top corner or 18 3/4" to top of finial. It's 13 1/2" wide and 7 3/8" deep. Inside t is a drawer on the top shelf that has no pull currently. T are holes so t was something t at one time. On the bottom of the shelf the drawer sits on is from a YANKEE GIRL tobacco crate or box. The middle opening is 6 3/4" high x 10 3/4" wide. T is an space under that shelf w t may have been another drawer at one time. The bottom of the existing drawer says in large red printing: SPEARHEAD 2 X 12 CLUBS AMERICAN TOBACCO CO. (SEE PHOTO) obviously created from a crate of some sort. The back of the cabinet also has a section make from a crate saying: SALADA TEA. Another board above that says: FROM LOOSE and under that: MPLS, MIN. I don't know if they are cut from the same crate or not. I don't know if these crate pieces were original to the piece or were used as repair pieces later. The interior shelves and drawer may have been added as well. I think these trademarks all add to the charm and character of this piece. The cornice at the top looks to have the original silver paint. It appears t were separate attached finials on each corner, now missing, probably like the one remaining in the center. (The photo shows one missing corner piece, the other 3 corners look the same as this one) The center one is attached as a separate piece, not formed of the cornice. T is a 1" x 1/4" chip in a side board about 1" up for the floor. T are no other missing wood pieces. All parquetry is present and appear original. The latch and hinges are intact and functioning. The front door and both sides, as shown in photos, have beautiful inlay of different wood colored wood. This is a VERY eye catching piece. The interior shelf is stained as if by cans of ink or dye were stored within. T is a slight chemical smell suggesting the same. T are 3 holes in the center back board indicating this was hung on a wall. I'm not sure what else to describe about this piece so email me with questions or additional photos. If you know anything about this piece I would love hearing from you. The cabinet itself weighs almost 10 pounds. I will determine exact costs after the auction. The postal calculations is an estimate.
