This is a vintage hand carved wooden apple tea caddy. The outside has aged some, but the inside still has the wonderful smell of the wood the apple was carved from. I have researched the "apple tea caddy" (this is carved on the bottom of the apple), and I would love to know more about it, I couldn't find any information about this one. The apple has a false keyhole lock on the front of the apple and the lid lifts off. The apple measures 5 1/2" from table to the top of a metal stem and 3 3/8" across the top of the apple, with the lid off. A friend told me that this was also called a hider box?
